87-year-old Doyle Brunson voiced his discontent with Utah Senator Mitt Romney voting to impeach the former US President, Donald Trump.  Some of Brunson's followers believed the poker great was also comparing Trump to Jesus, though that appears to be a misinterpretation of his tweet (we think).

"I can't believe I supported this guy when he ran for POTS.  Judas!", the long time Republican tweeted Sunday, likely meaning to write "POTUS".

Brunson has been critical of Trump at times throughout his tenure as President, it should be noted.

"I am off the Trump bandwagon," he tweeted in March of 2018.  Brunson cited Trump's signing of a $1.3 trillion (with a "t") omnibus spending bill at the time.  "He completely caved."

Romney was one of seven Republicans who voted to convict Trump for incitement in the attack on the US Capitol January 6.

"Do you think DJT is innocent and a good person to have in a position of power?" one of Brunson's followers asked.

Brunson responded later in the day "No".

Another tweeted:

It only got worse.

While an overwhelming number of Brunson's followers found his tweet repulsive, Doyle did have one or two supporters.

"He’s just jealous a non politician got things done in office. He’s bitter after he had his chance and screwed it up?," one tweeted in reference to Romney.

Another tweeted: "You're the man, Doyle".

The Texas Dolly did get the last laugh though.
