DIAMOND
SPORTS INTERNATIONAL FIRES NEARLY ALL OF ITS EMPLOYEES: FIGHTS BREAK OUT IN
HALLWAY
Christopher Costigan, Sports911.com
As
has been reported here at 911 for the past several days, Diamond Sports fired
all but a few of its employees today and is reportedly moving into the CRIS
(Costa Rica International Sports) complex.
Absolute mayhem broke out at about 5 pm CT or 7 pm ET this evening after
employees were forced to sign papers that would make them ineligible for
severance pay. However, it is illegal in Costa Rica for a company to refuse
severance pay to national citizens without declaring bankruptcy. 911 has not
yet determined if Diamond Sports declared bankruptcy.
At
least one guard sustained injuries during a brawl between a DSI employee and
supervisor outside the Diamond Sports International office on the 6th
floor of Building 7 in Office Centro, La Sabana Sur.
Meanwhile, a former owner in Vegas International is claiming to be owed over six
figures from the partners of DSI. Vegas International had been a Diamond Sports
“affiliate” book but was recently merged back into the main business. It is
still not known how other DSI “umbrella” books will be affected by these sudden
and abrupt changes. BetPreGame, 2Bet.net and FunTimeBingo are just some of the
affiliated companies.
“Dino
(one of the two partners in DSI) is so paranoid of the Feds,” claims a 911
source.
He
has even more reason to be paranoid after this evening’s fiasco. Dino has spent
the past few weeks reportedly hiding out in
Spain
while the other partner, David, remains back in the States. It is not known
whether FBI agents are actually pursuing Dino.
Some
players today who requested funds via NETeller were told they would receive
payments by 5 pm ET
but never did. Another player and 911 reader, owed over $25,000 for two weeks
now, finally received a partial payment of $7500 today and was told the rest
would be available tomorrow.
The
owners of BetDSI certainly have no shortage of enemies. Last year, one of the
partners reportedly knocked out an IQ Ludorem employee inside the DSI office.
Local authorities shut the business down temporarily. Another report suggests a
DSI agent has “ratted out” Dino. And now they have several disgruntled
employees and affiliates to contend with. 911’s advise to Dino is head back to
Spain, dressed up as a monk and join a monastery.
CRIS’s apparent “take over” of DSI has players sighing a breath of relief,
however, it is not yet known the extent of this relationship. Some speculate
that DSI will merely be leasing office space in the CRIS complex while utilizing
its well structured resources such as the call center and tech support. DSI
tech support personnel were among those let go on Monday.
