David Cook to Become New Favorite to Win American Idol

With all the early buzz surrounding that other David (Archuleta), Gambling911.com has long been predicting that rocker David Cook could win this season's American Idol as an early 50 to 1 odds underdog (paying $50 for every $1 bet). 

Following this week's incredible and very original version of Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean", David Cook will likely become the new favorite to win it all.   He had been listed with 3 to 1 odds heading into Tuesday night's performance show

"Absolutely amazing!' declared our own American Idol insider, Carrie Stroup, from her Los Angeles digs Wednesday morning.  "I was completely blown away by Cook's performance.  It would not shock any of us to see him win the whole thing."

Leading up to this week, caustic Judge Simon Cowell had touched upon the idea that Cook could win based on talent alone provided this season's American Idol was not just a "popularity contest".  After Tuesday night's daring performance, Judge Randy Jackson reiterated Simon's assessment.

Meanwhile, DialIdol.com, the prediction model that measures busy signal volume, had Cook handily moving on to the next week's performance show along with Archuleta and - somewhat surprisingly - Carly Smithson.  Smithson showed up in the bottom three last week and this week's performance was not her greatest.

Chikezie Eze and Jason Castro appeared to be in danger heading into Wednesday night's American Idol results show.
