David
Blaine Appearing on
Oprah Attempting to
Break Record for
Holding One's Breath
Magician David
Blaine will appear
on The Oprah Winfrey
Show attempting to
break the record for
holding one's breath
and the online
oddsmakers are
already all over
this one.
He'll
be doing so April
30th (Wednesday).
The current record
is 16 minutes and 14
seconds, which
already will make
for some pretty
boring television
once this gets
underway we suppose.
The
oddsmakers at
Sportsbook.com
will be holding
their breath
anticipating him to
break the record,
though not the best
payout in the world
($1
for every $2 bet,
plus get the initial
wager refunded if he
breaks the record)
"We
have listed him as
an underdog not to
break the record,
paying $3 for every
$2 bet if he doesn't
go the full time
period," stated Dave
Stanley,
Spokesperson for
Sportsbook.com.
No
odds on whether he
collapses on stage.
According to the
International Herald
Tribune, Blaine was
at Grand Cayman
Island in the
Caribbean last week,
training for his
record attempt along
with Dr. Ralph
Potkin, a Los
Angeles
pulmonologist and
team physician for
the United States
free-diving team,
whose members were
also training there.
Blaine reportedly
held his breath in a
swimming pool for 16
minutes, nine
seconds, stopping
just short of the
record so that he
can attempt to break
it on Oprah's show.
The
David Blaine odds
for breaking the
record for holding
one's breath can be
found under the
EXOTICS tab in the
SPORTSBOOK section.
