David Archuleta Dad Loses American Idol Backstage Pass

There have been rumors circulating all season long that young American Idol contestant and long time favorite to win, David Archuleta, has a dad who can be a "little difficult".  This all came to fruition over the last couple of days.

Backstage meddling has caught up with Jeff Archuleta.  He was told this week by producers that he can no longer join 17-year-old son as David as he prepares for the show, the person familiar with the matter told The Associated Press. The person wasn't authorized to comment publicly and spoke on the condition of anonymity.

Despite a warning, Jeff Archuleta insisted on altering "Stand by Me," one of two songs his son sang on the show Tuesday. By adding a verse from Sean Kingston's "Beautiful Girls," the father incurred additional costs for "American Idol," the person said.

David Archuleta now pays $3 for every $2 bet compared to David Cook who would require a $2 bet to win $1 (the original bet is also returned only if Cook were to win).  Syesha Mercado was listed with odds of 20 to 1, some huge value considering each of the Idols received a relatively close number of votes last week.
