Cynthia
Rodriguez Blames
Madonna for Divorce
Alex Rodriguez's
soon to be ex-wife,
Cynthia Rodriguez,
claims that it was
singer Madonna who
contributed to the
break up of her
marriage to the high
paid Yankees player.
Ms. Rodriguez filed
for divorce on
Monday.
The married Madonna
- famous for a long
list of lovers in
her wild, younger
years - captivated
the Yankee star to
the point that their
"relationship" was
"the last straw" for
his long-suffering
wife, Cynthia,
said C-Rod's lawyer,
Earle Lilly.
Cynthia Rodriguez's
lawsuit contends
that "the
marriage of the
parties is
irretrievably broken
because of the
husband's
extramarital affairs
and other marital
misconduct".
Lilly told
People.com that that
oddball matchup
between the singer
and slugger "is an
affair of the
heart."
He insisted his side
isn't claiming that
Madonna and A-Rod
have had a sexual
fling.
"The correct
analysis is a
'relationship,' "
Lilly said. "Some
people categorize an
affair as something
as sexual
infidelity. We're
not claiming that."
This will be one
costly divorce,
according to the
New York Daily News.
A-Rod makes 31.4
Million per year and
Cynthia appears more
than willing to
spend that money as
she sees fit,
including a Paris
shopping spree.
Cynthia used the
Yankee slugger's
credit card to the
tune of $100,000 to
punish him for a
dalliance with
Madonna, according
to the Daily News.
There (in Paris),
Cynthia "had spa
treatments, she went
to the best
restaurants," an
A-Rod friend told
the paper. "She
originally was going
to head to Spain,
where Lenny Kravitz
was touring."
In addition to
embarrassing
Rodriguez and
feeding false rumors
that she and the
rocker were an item,
Cynthia gave A-Rod a
taste of the gouging
to come, the friend
said.
"She needs four
lawyers in two
different states?"
asked the friend.
"That's not the
dream team, it's the
greed team."
Also, the pal said,
Cynthia has
deliberately kept
A-Rod from his
daughters while
tarring him as an
absentee father.
"Alex desperately
wanted to see his
children while she
was in Paris," the
friend said. "She
blocked him. She
said, 'You cannot
see them.'"
Meanwhile,
oddsmakers continue
to have their doubts
as to whether the
Yankees can overcome
the "off the field"
turmoil surrounding
A-Rod. The
team continues to
hover just a few
games over .500 and
8 1/2 games behind
the Boston Red Sox.
New York's odds of
winning the 2008
World Series were
pushed into double
digits over the last
two weeks, now 18 to
1 (+1800) at
