Now that week 5 is officially underway with a big win from the Hurricanes on Thursday night, 47-10 over the Tar Heels, we can look further into the Top 25 and see who is worthy of our hard-earned money this week. This football gambling hobby is a fun adventure indeed and it’s certainly a lot more fun when we are winning. If you are struggling to stay afloat, then by all means do yourself a favor and find a great football handicapper. These guys know the ropes and the good ones win upwards of 55-60% of the games they bet on.

The first four weeks of the 2018 college football season have been nothing short of stellar, with more than a few surprises and some of the old faithful’s, continuing to win as they always do. Such as the Ohio States and Alabama’s of the world.

Who looks good this week and what games hold value? Let’s take a look:

This week we are staying away from Alabama. The spread is simply to expensive at 48.5. Now granted, Alabama probably covers this spread easily and makes us all look like idiots! This is what Alabama does on a regular basis. Last week the Crimson Tide played Texas A&M and held an 18 point lead at the half, they went on to win the second half by a score of 14-10 but did not cover the second and ultimately, did not cover the game spread of 27. The final score ended at Alabama 45, A&M 23. The Tide played very well with little letdown but they certainly didn’t show up in the second half like they normally do. TA&M has a solid team and they made the game a bit interesting. This week, they host Louisiana-Lafayette and it will be a sound beating but will it be a 48 point beating after a tough game last week? Probably, but we are not calling it. This one is at your own risk!

Syracuse vs #3 Clemson:

This is an interesting game for one reason, well, for two reasons… Syracuse is the one loss racked up by Clemson last season and while it was in Syracuse and not in Death Valley, it’s still a big deal. Syracuse plays Clemson well and the other reason is the fact that the Orange are 4-0 on the season and have a legit argument for being ranked in the Top 25.

We do not think that Syracuse will get the win in Death Valley. They are simply not there on defense but they can and will absolutely keep up on offense. This team has a ton of talent all over the offensive field and they can go toe to toe with Clemson or anyone for that matter. Clemson -25.5 is too many points. Take the Orangeman at +25 and enjoy a very good football game. Clemson will dominate the first half, so be sure to find first half line. Be careful with the second half; find value

#14 Michigan vs Northwestern

The Michigan Wolverines come into the day at 3-1 and knowing they let one get away from them at Notre Dame, or they would be 4-0. This team gets better and better as the weeks go by and Harbaugh has them ready to ball at all times. Northwestern is getting respect in this game simply based on history between the schools. Not this year, don’t buy into this. Michigan is a much better team with much better talent across the board. They could light up the Wildcats for a big blowout. Look for a huge game from Higdon on the ground and a superior defensive effort. Lay the 14.5

#19 Oregon vs #24 Cal

What a difference a year or two makes for some programs and Cal is no exception. With the loss of Jared Goff to the draft in 2016, it has taken the program a while to find it’s sea legs, but here they are. Garbers is having a great season with 454 yards, 6 TD’s against 2 interceptions for a completion rating of 68.2% and a QB rating of 149.3, not too shabby! Oregon is a program in perpetual transition and has been since the departure of Chip Kelly. What he did for that program may never be topped; he went 46-7over 4 seasons and won a Rose Bowl and Fiesta Bowl and played in a National Championship Game. He blew teams out along the way and he had talent to burn such as Marcus Mariota. All of that is gone, Oregon is simply not the same program, however, they are finding a path back and they are once again scoring a lot of points per game. This game will be a high scoring barn burner. Play the Over-58.
