"Our money is on Clay Aiken coming out of the closet Wednesday morning," revealed Gambling911.com Senior Entertainment Reporter, Payton O'Brien.  "Why else would we watch?"

Earlier this year, a 38-year-old man says he had unprotected sex with Clay Aiken in a North Carolina Quality Inn on Jan. 2. John Paulus, a former Green Beret, told his story to the Feb. 6 edition of the National Enquirer, which headlined its piece, “Clay is gay.”

Clay Aiken was achin' for some unprotected gay sex earlier this year according to reports.  Will he come out of the closet?

John Paulus, a former Green Beret turned gay porn star, claimed to have had unprotected gay sex with Clay Aiken
The paper claimed that “Paulus passed a polygraph exam” and “provided copies of instant message conversations he allegeds to have had with bachelor Aiken over a two-week period.” He also says he “has towels used by Aiken from the sexual encounter which he claims contains the singer’s DNA.”

In the Enquirer piece, John Paulus said, “Clay told me that he just came out of the closet to his mother and a few close friends last year. He said she wasn’t too happy. He told me that he was single again, having broken up with his boyfriend about five months ago.”

He said that Clay communicated with him via IM, where Clay was known as “valleyprettyboy.” On Jan. 2, Paulus paid cash for a Quality Inn hotel room in Garner, NC, and says, “within five minutes, he started to feel my arms and put his hands on my leg. We started to mess around and Clay said he wanted to have sex with me. Before I knew it we were having unprotected sex. I was trying to justify to myself about having sex with a stranger by thinking that he’s a celebrity he must be ‘clean’.”

Paulus added, “He kept telling me, ‘We’re going to do this many more times.’” However, Paulus did not disclose the timing of his story to the National Enquirer. It was presumed there were no further sexual encounters between the two men.

Paulus has since gone on to star in gay porn films.

In March 2006 The National Enquirer and Star Magazine published follow up articles to Paulus' claims that purported to include internet chat and webcam pictures Aiken allegedly sent via the internet to another man.

In May 2006 the Post Chronicle website published an article questioning the truthfulness of Paulus' allegations. The article references allegations that the IMs are faked, that the webcam pics have been photoshopped, and that Aiken was out of state on the date of the alleged meeting.

Aiken has consistently denied he is gay. To date, Aiken and his representatives have neither acknowledged nor denied the claims in Paulus' story, and instead have relied on "no comment". Star Magazine's article did include the following response from Aiken's representative: "Clay's on a flying saucer with his alien parents, busy kidnapping monkeys. We cannot comment till he gets home to Pluto."
