Chuck Liddell in Rehab Prior to UFC 71

He was a small favorite to win UFC 71, but in the end, Chuck Liddell lost to Quinton Jackson again and now, with UFC 72 approaching this Saturday, comes word that Chuck Liddell may have been in rehab just prior to the fight.

SPORTSbyBROOKS.com is reporting UFC fighter Vernon White twice claims that Chuck Liddell was in rehab for a substance abuse issue just before his embarrassing defeat at the hands of Quentin Jackson on May 23.

"I'd heard he'd been in drug rehab for an addiction, and got back in the cage too soon," White said.  "He shouldn't of taken a fight with Jackson so lightly."

Clarifying whether he knew this first hand, White responded:

"I heard it from a close friend, so maybe I shouldn't have commented on it. After seeing him nod off on that talk show it seems very reliable. His publicist should be shot for letting him in public in that condition."

Rich Franklin is a -180 favorite verses Yushin Okami this coming Saturday night for the UFC 72 "Victory" event.  (See: Open a UFC 72 Online Betting Account here)
