PITCHING MATCHUP: Cardinals RH Jack Flaherty (8-6, 3.32 ERA) vs. Brewers RH Jordan Lyles (8-8, 4.69)

Flaherty has gone 4-0 with 0.84 ERA over his last five starts and is unbeaten in his last eight turns. The 23-year-old has allowed one run and 14 hits while registering 40 strikeouts over 32 innings during that stretch after working six scoreless frames against Colorado in his last turn. Flaherty has served up six homers in 13 innings while going 1-1 with a 9.00 ERA in three starts versus Milwaukee this season and is 2-2 with a 4.79 ERA in eight career outings against the club.

Lyles pitched six hitless innings while defeating Arizona in his last turn and is 3-1 with a 2.67 ERA in five starts since being acquired from Pittsburgh. The 28-year-old was just the third pitcher in franchise history to exit a start with at least six hitless frames, joining Juan Nieves (no-hitter in 1987) and Ben McDonald (six innings in 1997). Lyles is 1-1 with a 7.04 ERA in two starts against St. Louis this season and 1-4 with a 5.35 ERA in 11 career contests (six starts) versus the team.
