Alvarez puts his WBC and WBA middleweight belts on the line while Jacobs tosses his IBF crown into the mix.

This fight is definitely for the whole enchilada and one of the most anticipated matches of the year. Alvarez has battled some of the best fighters during his career and has just one loss on his ledger. Jacobs has the reach advantage and will use that to keep the big hitter at a safe distance. The bout can be seen on the DAZN app.

Let’s take a look at the boxing odds at BookMaker.eu, break down the matchup and go over your betting options.

The bout between Daniel Jacobs ( 35-2, 29 knockouts ) and Canelo Alvarez ( 51-1-2, 35 knockouts ) will be held at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday, May 4, 2019. This is the main event on a card that features several other fights and is available on the DAZN app. Three of the four recognized world middleweight titles are on the line for this 12-round maximum fight.

Canelo Alvarez vs. Daniel Jacobs Fight Preview

Jacobs already revealed his strategy for the fight and it makes absolute sense. Now, carrying out that fight plan to success is another story. Jacobs has about a three inch reach advantage, which he’ll use to keep his heavy-hitting opponent at bay. And he also noted the struggles Alvarez has with fighters who can dance in the ring.

A talented fighter in his own right, Jacobs has the skill, power, and speed to upset Alvarez in this bout. He’ll have to contend with the judges as well. Alvarez has a history of being on the right side of scorecards in close fights, including both bouts with top contender Gennady Golovkin.

The first bout between the top middleweights ended in a draw, with many on hand believing Golovkin did enough to win. Last September, the rematch sparked similar outrage when Canelo was awarded the decision in another fight most observers felt Golovkin won.

Alvarez left little doubt in his last fight, however, showing off his powerful punching ability in a decisive knockout victory over Rocky Fielding. That punching power is what Jacobs has to defend, and Alvarez has to take advantage of when given the opportunity. With Jacobs looking to keep distance between the two, Alvarez will have to bide his time and wait for an opening.

Jacobs went toe-to-toe with Golovkin in 2017, becoming the first to go the distance with GGG, though he lost by unanimous decision. Still, that bout gave Jacobs encouragement and he’s triumphed in his last three fights. Jacobs has proven to pack a punch of his own, but his previous three bouts all went the distance. Make no mistake, though, Jacobs has power with 29 of his 35 wins coming via the KO.

Alvarez has had some bouts with big-time fighters like Golovkin, Floyd Mayweather, Miguel Cotto, Alfredo Angulo and Amir Khan, but he could be facing the most well rounded of the bunch, with the exception of Mayweather, who dealt Alvarez his lone professional defeat. He has 35 KOs to his credit, but Alvarez is unlikely to get one on Saturday. He’ll be better off staying away from the jab and using his power to inflict damage to the body. And we’ve seen that work in the past.

Boxing Betting Tips

Jacobs has the tools but his stamina is a question. Sure, he went the distance in his last four bouts, but the biggest fight of the quartet saw him fade in the later rounds against Golovkin. Canelo will work the body and that tends to drain his opponents. This fight isn’t going to end early with both having the chin to take a blow. In fact, Alvarez has never been knocked down in his professional career.

Alvarez is the favorite for a reason. He has the skill, a better record and a more powerful combination. That will wear Jacobs down allowing Alvarez to win this in a decision.

Iowa State: Are They The Underdogs To Look For In March Madness?

They may be defined as “underdogs” or “Cinderella teams”, a term that is usually saved for teams that have little to no chance of winning even a single game during the NCAA Tournament. Teams like Loyola Marymount (1990), George Mason (2006), Davidson (2008), VCU (2011), UConn (2014), and Loyola Chicago (2018) come to mind when conversations turn toward the most surprising tournament runs in recent memory.
