Sports Betting in Louisiana

Sports betting could come to Louisiana's state regulated casinos by November 1 according to reports.

“I understand the public wants this very badly, and we’re working overtime,” Ronnie Johns, head of the Louisiana Gaming Control Board, said. “But we’ve got to dot our I’s and cross our T’s.”

Initially, sports betting will just be allowed in state-regulated casinos. Mobile betting on smartphones is still “a couple of months away” because of the extensive compliance process, Johns said.

Some parishes will prohibit mobile wagering per a voter initiative.

As of early November, Louisiana residents can currently register but not place bets at the moment.
