British
Open Big Payouts for Gamblers Are A Plenty
Starting from the
British Open leader, Sergio Garcia, on downward, the
likelihood of some big payouts to gamblers (punters)
has never been better and the bookmakers must all be
breathing a sigh of relief with Tiger Woods falling
further out of contention. Woods was the most
bet on of the golfers this week.
Nevertheless, there
are a few gamblers who stand to make $3000 per every
$100 bet on Garcia at online bookmakers like
Sportsbook.com.
At online bookmaker
BetED.com
Sergio Garcia was the early favorite to top the
European entries at nearly 3 to 1 odds.
Scary as it may be
for bookmakers to payout on a Sergio Garcia win,
even more frightful would be the prospect of a Steve
Stricker win.
Sportsbook.com
had the American golfer pegged with 125 to 1 odds of
winning throughout much of the British Open.
That would translate into just over a $12,000 payout
for every $100 bet. He opened with 75 to 1
odds.
American Chris
DiMarco at one point was listed with 200 to 1 odds.
He is tied at third with a handful of other golfers.
Last year, the
British bookmakers lost a collective 10 million as a
result of Tiger Woods unprecedented win.
Woods was the early 5-2 favorite to win this
weekend, less than half the price he was last year.
"Hoylake was undoubtedly our darkest day in golf
betting history," Ladbrokes spokesman David Williams
was quoted in the Daily Express. "We took a chance
by offering [Woods] at 6-1 and it backfired in
tremendous style."
Here were all your payout odds
throughout the 2007 British Open.
