The last two games Thursday and Friday went OVER 13 runs.  Five of the last six have gone OVER the current total of 8.  Oddsmakers have flirted briefly with the 8.5 but they have mostly been steady with the 8.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Red Sox LH Eduardo Rodriguez (2018: 13-5, 3.82 ERA) vs. Mariners RH Mike Leake (2018: 10-10, 4.36)

Rodriguez posted the highest victory total of his four-year career last season while striking out 146 batters in 129 1/3 innings. The 25-year-old was 6-1 with a 3.97 ERA in 10 road starts last season. Rodriguez is 2-2 with a 3.58 ERA in five career starts against the Mariners and has struggled to retire Dee Gordon (5-for-8, one homer) while easily handling Ryon Healy (1-for-15).

Leake reached double digits in victories for the fourth time last season but he served up 23 homers, tying for the second most in his nine full seasons. The 31-year-old had a 4.55 ERA in 15 home starts last season while compiling a 4-5 record. Leake is 1-3 with a 5.30 ERA in six career starts versus Boston and has struggled with Bogaerts (5-for-12) and Martinez (5-for-14, one homer).
