A few years back, Jamie Foxx was such a massive favorite to win for "best actor" in the film about Ray Charles aptly titled "Ray" that few punters even bothered betting. The bookies simply left the odds up, probably realizing that nobody wanted to lay $100 or whatever the amount was to win a buck. This year, it's the same category that is giving bookies fits but the odds aren't nearly as astonishing. 1/15 odds has been applied to the huge favorite, Daniel Day-Lewis. That bet would require $15 to win $1 (you of course get back your original $15 bet assuming Day-Lewis wins). These odds were still being offered by Sportsbook.com heading into the 5 pm EST hour. Still, some of the bigger online sportsbooks - including those like BetCRIS.com - noted for their willingness to take on wiseguys and other professional bettors - have since removed odds on Day-Lewis. British betting firm Ladbrokes has all but thrown in the towel, admitting that Day-Lewis has basically won already.

think he's going to
win. And while some online gambling websites have limited themselves to the main categories, others have stretched things a bit. BetOnline has a wide offering of Oscar betting odds when you click on "Future Props" then "Entertainment" under their "Live Lines" section (top left hand side of their website). In addition to the top signup bonus of 10 to 45 percent depending on how much you deposit, BetOnline also features betting odds on the winning Foreign Language Film and Best Short Film Animation. Of course they have odds on all the major categories as well, some with decent size payouts. How about Beaufort paying $350 for every $100 bet? Gambling911.com reported Sunday afternoon record breaking traffic for this year's Oscar betting and the show was still a few hours away. ---- Jordan Bach, Gambling911.com
