Bodog Poker review

Sports911.com's Bones McCoy offers his review of Bodog Poker

Fast becoming a major player in the online poker segment and already a top three online sportsbook, BodogPoker.com is constantly evolving as we learn from our online poker review expert Bones McCoy.

---

Customer service was fantastic at BodogPoker.com in several areas.  They have direct toll free numbers and I was never placed on hold.  The gentleman taking my call was courteous and professional.  I forgot my user name and password one time and the Customer Service Department provided me with this information immediately, once they identified me through their extensive security screening of course.

In terms of the games and tourneys, there are excellent multi-table tourneys, single table tourneys and heads up tourneys.  The heads up tourneys do cost more compared with other poker sites.  The Multi table tourneys need to show chip places in my opinion.  I had some bad beats the first two days but have been on a roll of late.  I need to stress, thus far this is one of my favorite online poker rooms and the tourneys are one significant reason why.

When I originally started playing there were no short handed single or multi tourneys and no speed tourneys, though I believe they just added the speed tourneys at the time I was writing this review of Bodog Poker.

Depositing funds into one's account is simple and fast using a checking account.  Withdrawing money takes approximately 7 days using this method since all monies must be verified.  When you deposit, they credit your account immediately however and I am told this wait period only applies to the first check.  This is for the security of both Bodog Poker and the player.  And I also need to point out that there was no need to follow up with Bodog Poker about this withdrawal since they sent it the day they promised without even blinking an eye.

What completely amazes me about Bodog Poker is the amount of money they are spending.  Every Sunday at 2 pm EST they feature a $100,000 prize pool, which only costs $100 + $9 to enter.  First place is $25,000.  Because Bodog Poker is still relatively small compared with other web sites, this heads to a tremendous advantage for the poker player.  There were only 579 people in the last tourney compared to say 2000 people at a PartyPoker.  Bodog Poker raised $59,000 and had to cover the other $41,000.

Don't worry about the $9 cost to enter (almost double what some other poker rooms require).  The chances of winning here are so much greater.

Here is a suggestion for all you online poker players that might come in handy.  I have found so often that when playing during normal office hours Monday through Friday, many players will simply log off out of the blue.  The reason I have since discovered - and trust me this happens quite a lot - their boss has just entered the room or these players must take an important phone call.  Playing poker in the office leads to a number of outside distractions that translates into a tremendous advantage to those of us who are unemployed.

In the above scenario the games, specifically the head's up tournaments, at BodogPoker.com keep on going.  All the chips go to the active players since the logged off players keep losing the blinds, and the ante keeps getting progressively bigger.  Let me tell you all something, I have made an absolute killing playing in the Bodog Poker room during the week.  Fact is, most poker sites have auto folds so the other player wins the blinds by default.

And finally, with Bodog.com ranked among the top 3 online sportsbooks in the world, you can bet on sports, at their internet casino and play poker all from the same account.

Addendum to this review:

BodogPoker.com has recently added a $6, $15 and $25 single table 10-person turbo tourney.

If you like tourneys as much as I do, then BodogPoker.com is for you.
