John Brennan, formerly of the Bergan Record and now a contributor for USBets.com, broke news this past hour:

Sportech has a partnership w former Mets manager Bobby Valentine, who is extolling the company's virtues at today's marathon CT casino & sports betting hearing. Bobby V favors legal sports betting, including online & on college games because "it's happening already"

Connecticut would likely offer sports betting exclusively at one of its two tribal casinos but state legislators are also looking into expanding gambling in the state to other properties.  Online wagering will also be considered.

Gambling911.com has been seeing plenty of traffic inquires for "Mohegan Sun Sportsbook".  Based on this, there appears to be an appetite for sports wagering in the state since the U.S Supreme Court overturned decades of prohibition.

The hearing concluded with an elderly woman testifying that she had contemplated suicide on three different occasions due to her compulsive gambling she said led to theft.
