The Cardinals opened at -131 versus Cincinnati.  This one has since moved to -151.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Reds RH Anthony DeSclafani (2-3, 4.97 ERA) vs. Cardinals RH Dakota Hudson (4-3, 3.94)

DeSclafani struggled in May by going 1-2 with a 5.59 ERA in six starts. The 29-year-old native of New Jersey allowed three runs and eight hits over 5 2/3 innings in a loss to Pittsburgh in his last turn. DeSclafani is 6-2 with a 3.45 ERA in 12 career appearances (11 starts) against Arizona - including 1-0 with a 3.60 ERA in two starts this season - but has struggled with Carpenter (11-for-24, three homers) and Paul Goldschmidt (8-for-15, one homer).

Hudson tossed six strong innings en route to winning his second straight decision on May 30, allowing one run and four hits against Philadelphia. "It's a continuation of what he's been doing," Cardinals manager Mike Shildt told reporters. "He controlled his counts, imposed his will, had stopper stuff. He's a smart guy." The 24-year-old rookie faced Cincinnati at home on April 27, when he gave up three runs and seven hits over 5 2/3 frames in a 6-3 victory.

The Marlins-Brewers game is most interesting.  Milwaukee is priced just a little out of our parameters at -162 but the total has caught our attention.  We've seen this one go from 7.5 to 9 depending on the book.  Most had moved back to 8.  Generally this one has trended 7.5 to 8.5.

The last four have resulted in 9 or more runs while seven of the last ten meetings have seen 9 or more runs.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Marlins LH Caleb Smith (3-3, 3.10 ERA) vs. Brewers RH Freddy Peralta (2-2, 5.68)

Smith fell to 0-3 in his last five trips to the mound despite allowing just two runs for the fourth time in that stretch in a 5-2 setback at San Diego on Friday. The 27-year-old only permitted three hits versus the Padres, but two left the yard. The home run ball has been an issue for Smith, who has been taken deep eight times in his last seven outings and 10 times in 2019 after surrendering 10 homers all over last season.

Peralta, who enters into the rotation spot vacated by the injured Gio Gonzalez (arm fatigue), received his third no-decision in his last four trips to the mound on Friday after allowing two runs in 3 1/3 innings at Pittsburgh. The 23-year-old Dominican has struggled at Miller Park this season, posting a 1-2 mark with a 6.98 ERA while allowing the opposition to bat .289 against him. Peralta yielded three runs on as many hits in 3 2/3 innings of a start versus Miami, although the current Marlins' roster is batting 2-for-10 against him.

The OVER is 6-1 in Peralta’s last 7 home starts.
