Currently, the only way to bet the NFL online in and around Detroit is via internationally licensed online wagering sites.

Will Any Sportsbooks Be Opening Up in the Detroit Area Any Time Soon?

The US Supreme Court has ruled that sports betting is now legal.  The next step is for individual states to amend their respective laws.  Once that occurs, sportsbooks will open in designated locations.  Some states will even permit online gambling originating from within its borders.

Detroit casinos could eventually begin offering sports betting.

In 2017, legislation was introduced to amend the state's current gaming control law. Michigan's proposed bill would allow any holder of a casino license to "accept wagers on sporting events." The state's gaming board would be required to "promulgate rules to regulate the conduct of sports betting under this act." In 2018, the Michigan legislature adjourned without action on the sports betting bill.

Should state-based sportsbooks come to fruition, one would expect to pay a steep tax on the activity.  This is one of the benefits of betting sports offshore as customers are not taxed by the sportsbook.

Michigan Sports Teams to See Heavy Action

The Lions in the NFL, Wolverines, Spartans in College Football, and the Redwings NHL franchise tend to get the most action in recent years. Odds will fluctuate throughout the season on futures bets.
