Best Bets for This Weekend - Feb. 27-28, 2021

The weekend betting slate typically includes the biggest games of the week. Weekend contests give bettors tons of opportunities to win big on multiple sports.

Here are my best bets for this weekend.

Dallas Mavericks at Brooklyn Nets - Saturday

Brooklyn is a better team than Dallas, but the Mavericks could surprise some people and cover on Saturday night. For the Mavericks to win this contest, Luka Doncic will need to be phenomenal and receive support.

Doncic has played incredible all season long. He is averaging 28.9 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 9.2 assists per game.

The Mavericks' problem has been finding players to support Doncic's domination. Kristaps Porzingis is expected to play on Saturday night, so the Mavericks have my attention on the road.

James Harden and Kyrie Irving lead the Nets, but Brooklyn is defined by team basketball. The Nets are currently second in the Atlantic Division at 21-12.

Golden State Warriors at Los Angeles Lakers - Sunday

Sunday night's NBA game between Golden State and Los Angeles is loaded with stars. The Lakers are 22-10, and the Warriors are 17-15.

The Lakers will be favored when odds are released. However, do not count out Golden State.

The Lakers were on a three-game losing streak heading into a Wednesday night matchup at Utah. If you want to bet Sunday's game, keep an eye on how the Lakers fare against the Jazz.

LeBron James and Kyle Kuzma are listed as day-to-day. The Warriors are healthy and have taken three of their last five. I am not saying that the Warriors will win, but I like them to cover on Sunday.

Texas Longhorns at Texas Tech Red Raiders - Saturday

This game is very intriguing as a bettor. Texas Tech should be favored when the odds are posted.

However, Texas can beat Texas Tech and cover against the Red Raiders. On Jan. 13, Texas Tech defeated Texas by two points.

It's challenging to beat a team twice in a season. Texas is on the road, but no fans will be in the stands.

If Texas can play defense, I like its chances against the Red Raiders. The Longhorns must limit Mac McClung, who is leading Texas Tech in scoring.

This is an excellent game for bettors depending on the sportsbook that you are utilizing. Keep an eye on this line as Saturday approaches.

Iowa Hawkeyes at Ohio State Buckeyes - Sunday

Ohio State defeated Iowa 89-85 on Feb. 4, and it will most likely be favored again at home. This contest is very similar to the game between Texas and Texas Tech. The ESPN Matchup predictor is giving Iowa a 54.2% chance to win.

I believe Iowa can cover and possibly win if Luka Garza can manage the inevitable double teams from Ohio State. Garza is one of the best players in the country. The center is averaging 24.7 points and 8.5 rebounds.

It's hard not to bet on this marquee Big Ten contest on Sunday afternoon.
