Baltimore Orioles, Oakland A's, Kansas City Chiefs Continue to Offer Value for Gamblers

The surprising Baltimore Orioles and Kansas City Chiefs continue to offer betting value to gamblers who have either of these teams pegged to win their respective divisions or the 2008 World Series.   Likewise, the Oakland A's are now starting to offer some top value as well.

Baltimore continued to lead the American League East earl on, though the favorites - the Boston Red Sox - were starting to make some headway.

With both the default favorites Red Sox and Yankees in this Division, Baltimore hasn't won over skeptics just yet and oddsmakers were currently listing them as 50-1 long shots to win their respective division.

The surprise Kansas City Chiefs meanwhile have the Chicago White Sox to contend with (not Detroit, which sits at the bottom of the standings).  The White Sox were the favorites to win their division with 3 to 1 odds.  Kansas City was listed with 20 to 1 odds, paying out $2000 for every $100 bet

The Oakland A's would pay out $500 for every $100 bet now if they were to win the American League West as of press time April 15, 2008.

It still may be early but there is plenty of value to be had for sure.

Baltimore Orioles, Milwaukee Bruins The Hot Teams With The Hot Payout Odds

Coming into the 2008 season, the Baltimore Orioles stood to pay out $11,000 for every $100 bet if they were to win the 2008 World Series; the Milwaukee Bruins were listed with +2000 odds, for a payout of $2000 for every $100 bet (Yes, they were expected to be good at least).   Read More

Boston Red Sox Odds to Win 2008 World Series Not a Solid Value

If you are going to bet the Boston Red Sox to win the 2008 World Series, now might not be the time, regardless of how hot they might get.

After a slow start (they lost their last three games), Boston was at the bottom of the standings in the American League East.  A remedy could be forthcoming with the team facing an even more disappointing Detroit Tigers team this week.

It's not as if the oddsmakers have really reacted to the Red Sox early woes.  After all, Boston opened the season with odds of 4 to 1 to win the 2008 World Series.  Now they have odds of 3 to 1.  You can bet Baseball online here

Even if the Red Sox were to get hot down the stretch, we here at Gambling911.com believe that this is a team that could be given much better payout odds over the next few weeks.  3-1 payout odds with a 3-4 record.  No value!  What about the Yankees and Mets?

Detroit Tigers vs. Boston Red Sox: Tuesday Preview

Detroit at Boston, Tuesday @ 2:05 p.m. ET

Neither of these teams have gotten off to the start they'd like to, but at least Boston has an excuse. The Red Sox (3-4) opened the season by traveling around the world to Japan. After splitting a pair against the Athletics, they made the long trip home and played two more in Oakland before visiting the pitching-savvy Jays north of the border. That's three countries in two weeks, so it's not wonder Boston hasn't had its “A” game. The defending champs were swept by Toronto and looked sloppy in the process. In Sunday's 7-4 loss, Boston committed four errors.

Daisuke Matsuzaka (1-0) will take the hill for the Red Sox. He's pitched well in two starts this season, giving up just three earned runs in 11.2 innings of work. Dice-K looked a little shaky in his last appearance, walking five in five innings against Oakland, but that start was a week after throwing in Japan. Matsuzaka was 1-1 with a 4.50 ERA against Detroit last season.

The start to the 2008 Tigers season has been a nightmare. Detroit is expected to contend for the pennant this year and it's unlikely anyone would have predicted an 0-6 start (all at home, no less). The new “juggernaut” offense was anything but, putting up a measly 15 runs. Despite homering in his first game in a Detroit uniform, Miguel Cabrera has struggled. Cabrera, expected to be the centerpiece of the Tigers' high-octane offense, is hitting .111 to start the season. He'll snap out of his funk eventually, but it's been a disappointing start for the young third baseman.

Kenny Rogers (0-1) gets his second start of the season. Rogers looked sharp in his debut (two runs in six innings) against Kansas City but received no help from his lineup in a 4-0 loss. Detroit is hoping Rogers will bounce back after pitching just 63 innings a year ago. He's faced Boston a ton in his career (25 starts), producing a 4.81 ERA, though he didn't face the Sox in 2007.

Detroit is due to break out, but Boston will finally be rested from a long road swing. Moreover, the Red Sox will receive their World Series rings on Tuesday; Boston should be pumped up and get a win in its home opener.

Odds to win the 2008 World Series and to nobody's surprise, the perennial favorite New York Yankees and their arch nemesis, the Boston Red Sox, have been made the early favorites.  In fact, we didn't even have to look over the odds before writing these first two lines of this article.

"It's every year for the past several years," jokes Don Shapiro, Sports Columnist for Gambling911.com.  "Typically we expect these two teams to perform well but more so most of the early bets will be placed on either the Yankees or Red Sox."
