Sportingbet featuring Live MLB Betting all week

Sportingbet.com is offering up a slate of MLB games featuring In-Game Live Betting all through the first week of the 2008 Major League Baseball season.

“In-Play” Live Betting, enabling bettors to wager while a game is in progress, starts tonight with the Texas Rangers visiting the Seattle Mariners in the second game of a season-opening three-game set between the AL West rivals.

Sportingbet.com’s Live betting schedule includes the Toronto Blue Jays at the New York Yankees on Wednesday, the Houston Astros visiting the San Diego Padres on Thursday, and wraps up with the Rangers facing the Angels in Los Angeles on Sunday afternoon.

Sportingbet.com has Seattle as a -190 Moneyline and -1½ Runline favorite in tonight’s tilt at Safeco Field. The run total is 8½.

Sportingbet.com also has a host of Prop Bets for tonight’s MLB matchup, including team to score first, and innings winner.

Righthanded pitcher Vicente Padilla gets the start tonight for Texas, while Felix Hernandez goes for Seattle.

Padilla had a tough time last season, going 6-10 with a 5.76 ERA and missing part of the summer with a triceps strain. The right-hander has also struggled against the Mariners in his career, going 2-5 with a 6.26 ERA in nine appearances.

Hernandez, who turns 22 next week, went 14-7 with a 3.92 ERA in 30 starts during 2007, his second full season. Hernandez has now been relegated to the No. 2 spot in the rotation after the Mariners acquired new ace Erik Bedard in a February trade with Baltimore.

Hernandez went 2-0 with a 1.84 ERA in two outings against the Rangers in 2007 to improve his career mark to 4-4 with a 4.57 ERA in 10 starts versus Texas.

Bedard allowed a run and three hits while striking out five and walking four in five innings of Seattle's 5-2 win over the Rangers in the season-opener for both clubs on Monday.

Seattle cashed as -200 home favorites as the teams played under the 8-run total set by sportsbooks.

Texas is 1-4 SU in its past five against Seattle, and 0-5 SU in its past five on the road against Seattle.

Washington Nationals Odds to Win 2008 World Series: A $12,500 Payout!

Don't look now but the Washington Nationals have the best record in Major League Baseball.  Okay, so it's only the second game but at 2-0 and odds of +12500 to win the 2008 World Series, that translates into some exceptional early value says Payton O'Brien, Senior Editor for Gambling911.com.

"A $100 bet on the Nationals would pay out a whopping $12,500," she stated.  "A mere $1 future bet pays out $125."

You gotta like those odds even if Washington is a super long shot to win it all.

Nick Johnson's tiebreaking RBI double off Tom Gordon highlighted a five-run ninth inning and the Nationals beat the Philadelphia Phillies 11-6 Monday.

No team scored fewer runs in the majors last year than Washington. But the return of Johnson and Cristian Guzman, plus the additions of Lastings Milledge and Paul Lo Duca, bolstered the Nationals' lineup.

"Everybody is calling us the worst offensive team in the league," said Milledge, acquired in a trade from the New York Mets. "We want to show we not only play hard, but play to win. We want to show we can hit, too."

New York Yankees Porn Collection Reaches 55,100

With A-Rod and Derek Jeter on the team, an easy 100 porn videos have been calculated into an already public figure of 55,000 porns.  That's the number Hideki Matsui claims to have.

“Indeed, his only eccentricity, if it can be called that, is his extensive private library of adult videos. His refreshing ability to laugh self-deprecatingly about his porno collection, reporters say, is one reason why fans and even nonfans have taken to him so much.”

SportsbyBrooks writes:

We’re guessing Matsui’s proclivity for a porno lifestyle is coming up after his bizarro introduction of his *wife* yesterday. Thanks to the SPORTS ILLUSTRATED, we have even more fun facts about Matsui insatiable desire for pay-for-sex feature films.

It was not clear whether Matsui had among his collection of fine porn the infamous Kazuhito Tadano porn video.

Tadano is a right-handed pitcher for the Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters in Japan's Pacific League. It is possible he is a catcher also, just not on the playing field.  He had previously pitched in Major League Baseball for the Cleveland Indians and Sacramento River Cats as minor leaguer.  Oh, he also pitched in this shock gay porn video.

Chicago Cubs Among Favorites to Win 2008 World Series

It's been 100 years - no scratch that - it's been 99 years, but who's counting.  That is the last time the Chicago Cubs won a World Series.  Could 2008 be different?  The oddsmakers think, maybe.  Entering the new season, the Cubs were listed with single digit odds of winning the 2008 World Series at Bookmaker.com.  A $100 bet would pay just over $700 at press time March 29 and those odds are locked in once the bet is placed.

There is hope!  Something strange has happened to the Cubs this spring. They made it all the way—well, about 90 percent of the way—without defections or disappointments in or damage to their pitching staff, writes Dave van Dyck of the Chicago Tribune.

Only one decision remains for the pitching staff—which left-hander to keep for relief duty, Sean Marshall or Carmen Pignatiello—and that appears to be only a short-term position because Scott Eyre could return from his elbow tightness in the second week of April. The only player with a real injury this spring, Eyre stayed behind in Arizona to rehab but he will be eligible to come off the disabled list April 8.

The only pitching questions at the start of spring were whether Ryan Dempster could convert from closer back to the starting rotation and who would take his bullpen spot from a group of Kerry Wood, Bobby Howry and Carlos Marmol. Wood won out.

"The bullpen wasn't an [issue]," pitching coach Larry Rothschild said, "because we weren't trying to fill roles, it was deciding which roles guys would fit."

Detroit Tigers Female Fans in "Soft Core Porn" Videos.. Without Their Knowledge

Female fans of the Detroit Tigers who appeared at home games may have become unwitting stars of "soft porn" films, according to a lawsuit filed by the team's former scoreboard operator.

Reanen Maxwell has stated that team photographers shot inappropriate "soft core videos" of female fans at home baseball games.

The videos were "freely and openly shown in the scoreboard area to all employees and supervisors on almost a regular basis," Maxwell claims in her sexual harassment suite.

"We believe there is no merit to the allegations," Karen Cullen, a spokeswoman for team owner Mike Ilitch, told the News.

The story did not describe what specifically was shown in the videos.

Maxwell worked for the Tigers during the 2006 and 2007 baseball seasons, according to the paper. In addition to alleging that the "continued showing of the soft core videos" made for a hostile work environment, the suit claims a technical assistant to the scoreboard director slapped her buttocks, "telling her how much he liked her butt."

Scott Ferncombe, the man responsible for selecting and recording crowd shots at the games, has stated to the media that he did not "know of any secret stash of videos" and nothing inappropriate was recorded to his knowledge".

Odds to win the 2008 World Series and to nobody's surprise, the perennial favorite New York Yankees and their arch nemesis, the Boston Red Sox, have been made the early favorites.  In fact, we didn't even have to look over the odds before writing these first two lines of this article.

"It's every year for the past several years," jokes Don Shapiro, Sports Columnist for Gambling911.com.  "Typically we expect these two teams to perform well but more so most of the early bets will be placed on either the Yankees or Red Sox."
