Presidential hopeful Barack Obama is loved by the NBA, enough so that members of the professional basketball league make up some of his biggest supporters.
This is Carrie Stroup with a Sports911.com news flash.
ClipperBlog narrator Kevin Arnovitz had an opportunity to dig deep into the Barack Obama coffers and discover just how potent a relationship he had with the NBA.
NBA political donations for Obama include but are not limited to: Shane Battier, a disciple of Duke's GOP-lead program, was a surprising Barack donor. Baron Davis, Evan Eschmeyer and Philly GM Billy King can also be counted among The Obamanation.
Charles Barkley and - it appears - Stephon Marbury - are both supporters as well.
In this campaign video, NBA veteran Charles Barkley recalled the first time he met Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) while researching a book he was writing.
“He had me so enthralled and enthusiastic about politics…” Barkley said. “America has found a shining star and it’s time for everyone to get on board.”
The AOL Fan House references Stephon Marbury and his New York Post blog. It is speculated that Marbury is referring to Obama:
They were talking on the news today about one of the candidates for president who is talking about poverty as a major issue for his campaign. That's real. That's the issues that the people are really dealing with every day. You don't hear many politicians bringing it like that. I respect that dude for that.
