CAC AmsterdamGambling911.com can reveal that the Antiguan government will receive the first ever Honorary Award for Internet gambling at the 2008 Casino Affiliate Convention (CAC) in Amsterdam April 3-5. The World Trade Organization awarded the Caribbean nation of Antigua and Barbuda $21 million annually from the US as part of a settlement agreement focused on Antigua's fight to legalize online gambling and allow its own lucrative gaming industry (with most customers residing in the US) to flourish. Antigua has been battling the United States on this front for a number of years now. "The deserve this award," CAC organizer, Marc Lesnick, told Gambling911.com recently. Other award considerations for future years include David Carruthers, the former CEO of BetonSports presently under house arrest in St. Louis, Missouri. There is likely to be some opposition to such an honor, however. A trial date is yet to be set for Carruthers. Casino Affiliate Convention has become the flagship conference for all Internet gambling professionals worldwide. Lesnick is expecting well over a thousand people to attend the upcoming Amsterdam event, which has been well chronicled in past years on the pages of Gambling911.com. --- Christopher Costigan, Gambling911.com Publisher CCostigan@CostiganMedia.com Originally published December 24, 2007 12:52 pm EST
