Idol Results Show -
Who Got Voted Off
(April 16)The American Idol results show was back on at its usual time Wednesday night. So who got voted off. This is Carrie Stroup here with live results throughout the hour, which will feature Mariah Carey. I will be bringing you the latest on who is safe and which Idols appear among the bottom three. One thing was pretty certain. It seems that Carly, Syesha and Brooke would all be in the bottom three. What wasn't certain was who would ultimately be voted off. Carly Smithson seemed to have more votes than the other two girls based on preliminary results, but the margin of error proved to be Michael Johns downfall in last week's shocking elimination. Syesha and Brooke were in a virtual dead heat to be leaving the show after this week based on these results. This week almost 36 million votes were cast - a season high. Jason Castro and Carly Smithson have been placed in one group. David Cook and Kristy Lee Cook in another group. Brooke Joins David Cook's group. Syesha joins Carly's group. Uh oh, is Jason Castro in trouble? David Archuleta waits in the back for the commercial break. We know he is safe though. David Archuleta was safe. David Cook swapped groups with Syesha. Archuleta was to go to the group that is safe and Ryan helped him out. Carly, David Cook, Jason Castro all safe. Kristy Lee, Brooke, Syesha in the bottom three. Syesha is safe. Kristy Lee Cook goes home in another shocker....at least we think so.

SafePreliminary results for American Idol this week have David Archuleta, David Cook, Jason Castro and Kristy Lee Cook all safe after Tuesday night's Mariah Carey theme night. DialIdol had the four with near guarantees to be on the show next week. Archuleta opened the show with a brilliant performance of "When You Believe" -- a beautiful vocal to be sure and it was obvious he would move on to next week after hearing that. David Cook was remarkable once again with his own cut of "Always be my Baby" - a hot original performance that is something to download for sure. Carrie Stroup meanwhile felt that Kristy Lee Cook's vocal was the best of the females and apparently America agreed. Who's a goner after this week? It looks like Brooke White is going home based on early voting results, though Syesha Mercado was pretty close in the results. While Carly Smithson will likely appear among the bottom three, there seemed to be a significant gap between her and the other two women. Last week, DialIdol was somewhat off. Though Michael Johns was likely to be among the bottom three, both Carly and Syesha appeared to have much fewer votes.

Idol Performance
Show April 15, 2008Carrie Stroup here with your American Idol performance show for April 15, 2008 and we were down to 7 following last week's shocking elimination of Australian Michael Johns. Tuesday night's show featured none other than Mariah Carey acting as mentor for the remaining Idols. E=MC˛ is Mariah's latest album, released the same day as her Idol appearance. Two weeks before the album's release, on April 2, 2008, "Touch My Body" became Carey's eighteenth number-one single on the Hot 100, pushing her past Elvis Presley into second place for the most number-one singles among all artists in the rock era, according to Billboard magazine's revised methodology . Carey is now second only to The Beatles who have twenty number-one singles.

Idol: Latest Odds to
WinWith only seven Idols left, the American Idol latest odds to win Season 7 may shed some light on who stands the best shot of becoming the next big Taylor Hicks (Taylor Who?) and what the payout would be. Because David Cook and David Archuleta are pretty much competing against each other at this point, neither are big enough favorites to discourage a bet on the David of your choice. It's all based on opinion. Some would say that Archuleta appears to the younger American Idol crowd and will therefore reel in more votes. Others suggest that David Cook is among the most original Idols to appear on the show and he could garner votes from older fans (as well as some younger). Last week, American Idol Season 7 experienced its first shock elimination with Australian Michael Johns being shown the door. Gambling911.com had Johns pegged to finish among the Top 3. Assuming Jason Castro can provide the same momentum as last week, he could make it a few more weeks. None of the remaining females really look to go all the way. Carly Smithson, who may not have the proper connection with the AI audience, has the best vocals of the females while Kristy Lee Cook is building a following within the Country music sector. Last week's performance by Kristy Lee Cook kept her out of the bottom three. All betting odds on American Idol were available heading into Tuesday evening's show. Click here to bet on American Idol

Johns Voted Off
American Idol:
Australia in ShockIn a Thursday night shocker and the biggest shock of the season thus far, Australia's Michael Johns has been voted off American Idol. He came into Tuesday night's performance show as one of the favorites to win it all. Johns kicked off the show with Aerosmith's "Dream On". The lesson apparently: Don't do Aerosmith on American Idol. The performance itself was actually pretty good. Gambling911.com had reported that Michael Johns appeared to have been among the bottom four vote-getters but he was not expected to have been the person eliminated.

Bottom Three
Appearance PossibleDavid Cook is in danger of being voted off Thursday night's American Idol results show, as shocking as this may sound. The close second favorite to win it all after David Archuleta appears to have had the third or fourth lowest vote total according to DialIdol. It does look like Carly Smithson and possibly Syesha Mercado have the best chance of being voted off Thursday, however. It wasn't as if David's performance was bad Tuesday night - it just wasn't as good as the others, including regular bottom burner Kristy Lee Cook (no relation) who saved her best for this week.
April 9, 2008 Numbers from DialIdol.com, a website that monitors busy signals during voting for American Idol contestants, suggest that Ireland's Carly Smithson will be packing her bags come Thursday night's results show. Wednesday night's usual results announcements will be preempted so that Fox can present Idol Gives Back. Smithson had the lowest vote count according to the site. She was somewhat closely followed by Syesha Mercado. Shockingly, either David Cook or Michael Johns may also be featured among the bottom three. DialIdol has made the determination that David Archuleta, Jason Castro and Kristy Lee Cook will all be safe this week. Ms. Cook - who is not related to David Cook - offered one of her best performances to date. Castro sung a revamped uptempo version of "Over the Rainbow" while playing the guitar. Archuleta - on the piano - sang brilliantly. Carly Smithson took on Freddy Mercury and the judges didn't feel the connection. They all agreed the performance seemed "angry" as opposed to "inspirational". Songs that Inspire was Tuesday night's theme in conjunction with Idol Gives Back. David Cook was not bad but he dropped the ball this week during a time when the competition is really starting to heat up. Without Smithson and Mercado in the mix, he could have been in serious danger of going home. Michael Johns performed a solid performance of Aerosmith's "Dream On". The problem: It was too similar to the original. As for Mercado, her version of Fantasia's "I Believe" was quite good as well if not for the fact that the Idol judges all felt Fantasia performed it so much better. And Idol fans seemed to agree based on preliminary voting. Idol Gives Back to Feature Presidential Candidates Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, John McCain Wednesday night's American Idol broadcast - Idol Gives Back - will feature appearances from none other than the US Presidential candidates themselves: Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and John McCain. Jarett Wieselman of the New York Post points out that embracing pop culture trends in an attempt to amass additional votes is nothing new to this group of candidates: McCain has used the endorsement of "The Hills" star Heidi Montag as a way of seeming more in touch with the nation's youth while Obama has shaken his booty on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" and Clinton lampooned herself on "Saturday Night Live." The three Senators will be joined by a cavalcade of celebrities who are all aiming to surpass the $76 million that was raised by the Emmy Award winning special last year.

Idol Judges Make
Their PredictionsAppearing on Larry King Live Monday night, American Idol judges Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul all agreed that David Cook and David Archuleta were the one's to beat. Randy Jackson said that David Cook was one of his favorites. Paula said "He's amazing". And Simon: "This is the guy I would actually choose to listen to on a personal level," said Simon. "Fearless!" David Archuleta is the one to beat, claimed Cowell, though there were some reservations from the other judges who pointed out how Archuleta had entered this season with a bang and has had some set backs since. As for Carly Smithson, another favorite: "I don't think she knows who she is," said Simon. Randy agreed. As did Paula. "Amazing voice," said Randy. Michael Johns - "Has picked really bad songs up to this point," said Randy. Simon likes him and believes an Australian can win American Idol (Johns was born in Perth, Australia and currently lives in the States. Brooke White - "Puts her heart and soul into each song," said Paula. Randy said "she is too transparent" and Simon claims the last two weeks she has "become boring". As for Jason Castro, Simon said it's pretty much all about song choice over the weeks. In other words, he hasn't been picking the best songs. Here were your odds to win American Idol heading into Tuesday night's performance show:
Brooke White 12 - 1
