American Idol: The Odds Are Against Syesha

With three left in this season's American Idol competition, only two are considered viable winners: David Archuleta and David Cook, at least when it comes to the press that has surrounded these two over nearly the past ten weeks.  But a funny thing happened on the way to this week's American Idol standoff.  Syesha Mercado, a Miami native, remained consistent while other Idol wannabes like Brooke White and Jason Castro, started to flop.

Mercado indeed has had some shining moments.  As the lone female left standing, she also has a significant edge coming into this week.

Doug Debolt of the-trades.com:

In the past few weeks, she (Syesha) discovered her voice, so to speak. Now she's performing like someone who really wants to win, and she's going to come close. Honestly, a bad week from one of the Davids matched with a great week from Syesha could spell a very unexpected finale. If she's going to have any chance, she'll need to bring back one of her biggest moments, and none was bigger for her this season than Andrew Lloyd Webber's "One Rock 'N Roll Too Many.

The odds, however, are stacked against Syesha.  Sportsbook.com would pay out $20 for every $1 bet compared to both David's who pay around $1 for every $1 bet.  In other words, the oddsmakers believe Syesha is dead in the water.  Granted, the value and payout potential is extremely good at this point in the process.
