American Idol: Performance Show on March 18, 2008

With 11 Idols vying to become the next American Idol, we were treated two yet another two hour performance show and plenty of excitement as this could truly be the best American Idol ever.

This is Carrie Stroup reporting live for Gambling911.com and let's take a look at who we thought were the best bets coming into Tuesday night's performance show.

David Cook 4/1 - The payout here at Sportsbook.com and that's $4 for every $1 bet.  Great value.

David Archuleta is still the favorite to win but at just slightly worse than even odds, the value is still there but the payout is not as great as what we would have with David Cook.

Carly Smithson - 7/2 she's a solid value and there are plenty of Irish Americans out there.

Brooke White is becoming a favorite with 4/1 odds.

After last week, we are now Chikezie Eze fans.  And with 40/1 odds, let's hope he can keep it up since the payout would be $40 for every $1 bet!

We like Jason Castro, Amanda Overmyer and Michael Johns but we're not sure how far they can go in this competition since they don't seem to be changing things up much.

Ramiele Malubay has a solid following but following a solid performance the first week of the Final 24, it's been down hill.

Syesha Mercado is capable - we think - but she hasn't been a standout up to this point.

Kristy Lee Cook....what more could we say.  She's in serious danger.

Opening the March 18, 2008 performance show, Amanda Overmyer came out swinging with "Back in the USSR" from the Beetles and, while it was good, Judge Simon Cowell said it best: "She's in danger of becoming boring".

Kristy was up next....the judges didn't like it...but I didn't think it was all that bad.  She's probably safe too because Kristy is developing a little following here and she told Simon off (in a cute kinda way).

David Archuleta performed "The Long and Winding Road", making up for last week's blunders.  He's such a little cutie pie.  I feel like just squeezing him.  Randy loved it.  Paula called him "pure".  Simon - "I thought you were amazing".

Michael Johns was just not very good this week.  Ouch!

Brooke White...."Here Comes The Sun" and it was kinda drab.  She's a sweet girl who admitted it wasn't her night.

Kristy Lee Cook is suddenly starting to look good tonight, huh?

David Cook was good.  Simon didn't like it though.

Carly Smithson did "Blackbird" and she was flawless.  Loved it!  So did the judges....except Simon of course.

Jason Castro was singing a French song "Michelle" and I didn't think it was that great.

Miami's own Syesha Mercado was up next.  And obviously we are rooting for her down here in Miami.  She was singing "Yesterday".  Randy said "Very, very, very good performance tonight".  Paula said it was nice to allow herself to be more vulnerable.  Simon thought it was her best performance thus far.  Syesha is in next week.  You go girl!

Chikezie Eze is in the house playing a harmonica.  He is getting HOT!  Everything from slow melody at the start to a wild foot stomping beat.  Loved it.  Simon thought it was "gimmicky" but I think he is safe.

Ramiele Malubay at 25/1 odds I thought was good enough to make it into next week.  Simon felt she chose a "mediocre" song much like most of the other Idols.

The winners tonight: David Archuleta and - yes - Syesha Mercado.
