American Idol: Ladies Night March 7

American Idol Ladies Night started out with Jordin Sparks doing Pat Benetar.  This is Carrie Stroup and Jordin came off strong and better than all the guys last night.  Plenty of energy.

Sabrina Sloan was up next and was pretty solid.  "There is just one thing that is consistent, you can sing," said Paula Abdul.  It reminded Simon of a "hotel resort performance".  Simon wanted more personality injected to get further in the competition.  All the judges agreed she deserves to be in the Top 12.

Antonella Barba was up next and we were shocked to learn that she plays a shrieking violin.  And her performance Wednesday night was just not very good...albeit the ending showed some promise.  Simon Cowell was very critical that she just isn't going to get much further in this competition.  I personally believe that she will get enough votes to crack the top 12.  Based on Gambling911.com traffic inquiries, Barba is super popular.

Haley came on next and just was bland in my opinion.  Unfortunately it is her week to go home.  Simon said it "was horrible" and that she has not made enough of an impact during this competition.  "It was like some horrible ghastly High School performance," Simon finished off.

Stephanie Edwards was up next.  She was considered one of the better performers coming into tonight.  And she really injected a lot into it.  Randy thought it was pitchy.  Paula thought she was "darn near flawless" with great showmanship.  Simon felt she deserved to get into the top 12, though she is "someone copycat". 

Lakisha did great as usual performing Whitney Houston.  All the judges agreed and thus far this was the best showing of the night.  She is a shoe in for the Top 12.

Gina sang some Evanescence "Call Me When You're Sober" and it may just have gotten her into the Top 12.  She brought an edge tonight and I think she'll have a fan base.  Simon said he hoped she would get through to the top 12 because she was a breath of fresh air and I agree.

Melinda Doolittle closed the show. She is HOT singing "I'm a Woman".  She'll have no problem cracking the top 12 this week.  "You are a consummate pro" said Randy.  Simon called her "a little tiger" and he loved it.

Whose going home?  My prediction is easily Haley and unfortunately Sabrina may be as well.  Antonella should be but as already pointed out, she's got a huge fan base.  I just feel there are four women who are very similar in style and both Lakisha and Melinda won't have any problem moving on from that group.  Stephanie and Sabrina will.  Gina brought an edge that will appeal to an entirely different fan base in my opinion - all those rock fans and then there is Jordin Sparks who is just plain cute and should appeal to that teeny crowd.
