Well regarded online casino exec Adam Anhang stabbed to death in Puerto Rico

The former CFO of Dr. Ho and CEO of CWC Gaming, Adam Anhang, was brutally stabbed to death last night on the island of Puerto Rico according to first hand reports provided to us by Gambling911 contacts located there.

Anhang was also a co-owner of the Martineau Bay Resort & Spa (a former Wyndham property soon to become the Caribbean's first W Hotel) in Vieques, eight miles off the east coast of Puerto Rico.

Details of the murder are sketchy at this time, however news of the stabbings have aired on local Puerto Rican news programs.  His fiance was also reportedly stabbed to death.  The motives at this time are unclear.

CWC Gaming (www.cwcgaming.com) is the leader in live online gaming software and services, and currently powers over 15 licensees, including Gambling911.com sponsor MVPSportsbook.com and European-operated BetInternet.  The company was set to bring on powerhouses Sportingbet and Ladbrokes.

Violet Ackass, who operates the Enchanted Garden Inn across the street from Anhang's Martineau Bay Resort, told Gambling911.com this evening she did not believe Anhang was involved as much with the online gambling industry any longer.

Ackass coincidentally had briefly assisted Anhang in the sale of his CasinoWebCam product before purchasing her tiny inn last year, unaware that Anhang owned the resort across from her new property.

"He (Adam) and his business partner (at Marineau Bay Resort) were very helpful in getting my own hotel going," Ackass told Gambling911.  "We became good friends over the last year."

Anhang was at one time a frequent attendee and occasional speaker at online gambling industry conferences.  While better known on the casino side of the industry, he had nurtured relationships on the sportsbook side over the years via his CasinoWebCam platform.

Anhang moved away from his lavish Manhattan penthouse last year to reside permanently in Puerto Rico with his fiance.

Violent murders are not uncommon in Puerto Rico and this is not the first time that hospitality professionals have been slain there.

In April 2004, two managers at the Outback Steakhouse in Isla Verde, Puerto Rico (a mile from the San Juan International Airport) were brutally murdered inside the restaurant after it closed.  The restaurant is located right inside the Embassy Suites Hotel and Casino.

A Former employee of a cleaning company that provided services to the Outback Steakhouse was later charged with the killings along with an accomplice.

The employee had been fired about a week before but he and the other gunman entered the restaurant posing as cleaning workers after midnight while several employees were closing for the night,  The two gunmen ordered the employees into a refrigerator, After taking $3,000 in cash, the gunmen returned to the refrigerator, took Jose Quiles Arroyo, 30, and Raul Carreira Orta, 31, out and shot them, then put their bodies in another refrigerator.

Gambling911.com was told by a few people familiar with the incident that the employee in question was fired after Outback management accused him of stealing liquor.  This element of the case was not widely publicized on the local news - though the murder itself was a top story for many days.

Vendettas are quite common on the island, but it is not yet understood why anyone would want to harm a meek and seemingly "square" Adam Anhang.

News of this tragedy should unfold more clearly on Saturday.
