The Academy Awards Best Actor odds for 2008 can be viewed in either one of two ways. With Daniel Day-Lewis the big -1400 favorite offering absolutely zero value, this category is either one to skip over or it's one to look at the other nominees and think "payout windfall". That's because the next shortest odds belongs to Johnny Depp in Sweeney Todd and there you would get a payout of $8 for every $1 bet (+800 means you would bet $1 to win $8 or $10 to win $80 at betED.com Gambling911.com's mindset is that Lewis is probably among the biggest "locks" in this year's Academy Awards presentation. Some of our readers may see things otherwise and to those individuals we wish them the best of luck as any other bet will pay handsomely, including George Clooney who would pay out $10 for every $1 bet. For Daniel Day-Lewis, this would not be his first Oscar (assuming of course he wins Sunday night). Day-Lewis put his personal version of "method acting" into full use in 1989 with his performance as Christy Brown in Jim Sheridan's My Left Foot which won him numerous awards, including the Academy Award for Best Actor. During filming, his eccentricities came to the fore, due to his refusal to break character. Playing a severely paralyzed character on screen, off screen Day-Lewis had to be wheeled around the set in his wheelchair, and crew members would curse at having to lift him over camera and lighting wires, all so that he might gain insight into all aspects of Christy Brown's life, including the embarrassments. He broke two ribs during filming from assuming a hunched-over position in his wheelchair for so many weeks. The film Day-Lewis stars in has also garnered an Academy Awards nomination for "Best Picture". There Will be Blood is an underdog alongside No Country for Old Men, though the later is far from a true "lock" compared to the "Best Actor in a Motion Picture" award. The really big payout potentials go to the huge underdogs: Tommy Lee Jones pays $23 for every $1 bet; Viggo Mortensen pays out $18 for every $1 bet. Anything is possible.
