You can bet the 2020 Arkansas Derby this Saturday May 2.  It will act as a filler for the Kentucky Derby, which has been postponed until September 5 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Oaklawn Park decided to move the $1 million Arkansas Derby to Saturday, May 2 to help fill the void. Since this Grade 1 stakes race has attracted so much interest from trainers with prized three-year old thoroughbreds, it had to be split into two divisions with 11 entries each. The entire race card at Oaklawn on Saturday should be a great live betting event.

Trainer Bob Baffert has the program favorite in both races in unbeaten Nadal (5-2) and unbeaten Charlatan (even money).

“We’re just fortunate and just grateful that they split it and we get to run them there and keep them separated,” Baffert said. “I really did not want to run them together.

“They’re both doing fantastic. I think Nadal, for some reason, he doesn’t get the respect that he should be getting. He’s a really top horse.”
