2018 Masters Odds Favorites

There are essentially four favorites to win this year's Masters.

Tiger Woods had been the favorite but was now at 6/1 with Jordan Spieth, Dustin Johnson and Justin Thomas each at 5/1 or 5.5/1.

Woods returns to the Masters following a two year absence.  His comeback has fans of the sport excited, as it does bookmakers who expect this to be the most wagered on Masters ever.

From the New York Times:

Woods’s decision last spring to have spinal fusion surgery, which he called “a last resort” after three less complex operations, seems to have restored him, at least for the moment. “I got a second chance on life,” Woods said on his website last week. “I am a walking miracle.”

Jordan Spieth would pay out $500 for every $100 bet.

"I think this course brings out the feel aspect of my game, which is the better side of me on the golf course," Spieth said in his press conference. "It's not a technical driving range golf course, you have a lot of uneven lies and very slopey greens, and so you have to play a lot off of feel and what that lie gives you.

"I think that that's helped me kind of settle in and not overthink things out here and get into a nice groove, and it's led to some success at this event. So it is my favorite tournament in the world. I've certainly made that pretty clear going back the last five years.

"So excited for this week."

Johnson's Masters plan is just to make it to the first tee.  Last year, Johnson was unable to play due to a sore back.

Heading into Thursday, Johnson should be 100 percent healthy.

“The more you play here, the more comfortable you get around this golf course. You know what tee shots and where to hit it and the flags and kind of how to attack the golf course. So that plays a part in it,” he said.

“Then I think just me as a golfer getting better, just having more confidence, hitting it better, driving it better, doing everything a little bit better always helps around here.”

Iowa State: Are They The Underdogs To Look For In March Madness?

They may be defined as “underdogs” or “Cinderella teams”, a term that is usually saved for teams that have little to no chance of winning even a single game during the NCAA Tournament. Teams like Loyola Marymount (1990), George Mason (2006), Davidson (2008), VCU (2011), UConn (2014), and Loyola Chicago (2018) come to mind when conversations turn toward the most surprising tournament runs in recent memory.
