Carson Wentz wouldn’t mind if his Philadelphia Eagles don’t have a game with the Los Angeles Rams scheduled in SoCal for awhile. For the second straight year the quarterback’s season came to an end with a game at the Coliseum on the docket.

It looks as though Wentz could be done after a fractured vertebra was discovered. He went down in Week 14 last year on the Coliseum turf with a serious knee injury. At least the Eagles have the Super Bowl MVP ready to take over and Nick Foles will attempt to repeat the magic of last season to keep Philly’s playoff hopes alive.

The backup QB spot in Philly isn’t nearly as dire as others around the league. We saw how the Niners season came off the rails when Jimmy Garoppolo went down and the Skins haven’t been able to recover from the loss of Alex Smith and Colt McCoy. It looks as though the Eagles will be without Wentz for perhaps the rest of the season. No worries, though, Doug Pederson just turns to last season’s Super Bowl MVP Foles.

The fact that Foles hasn’t played a snap since Week 2 could be a factor in his play, but the Eagles have all the confidence in their backup. They rolled through last season’s playoffs winning every game as an underdog with Foles going toe-to-toe with Tom Brady in the Super Bowl. Foles started the first two games of the year while Wentz was recovering from his knee injury and had a huge game against the Bucs in Week 2 completing 73 percent of his passes for 334 yards.

With a run game that has been subpar this season, Foles will have plenty of opportunities to throw the football. He has a pair of talented tight ends in Zack Ertz and Dallas Goedert and will likely target those guys a lot on Sunday night in an effort to find a rhythm and avoid the Rams pass rush from Aaron Donald.

Ertz caught 11 passes from Foles in the Week 2 game and he leads the Eagles with 98 receptions and 129 targets. He has nearly twice as many catches as Nelson Agholor, who is second on the team with 53. I would definitely look to play a prop on Ertz going over his total for catches and yards at BookMaker.eu.

Another player with a big role for the Eagles offense is Josh Adams. He had just seven carries last week after toting the rock at least 20 times in each of the two previous games. Philly needs more from its offense after the group hung the defense out to dry against Dallas last week. The Eagles ran just 48 plays and were 1 of 9 on third downs. That allowed the Cowboys to possess the football for 93 plays.

Adams will carry the ball a few more times in an effort to keep the ball out of Jared Goff’s hands, but don’t expect him to have much success against a Rams front that has been playing much better. The Eagles managed just 34 rushing yards last week and they will have trouble reaching their team total on a prop bet at BookMaker.eu.

Nobody took last week’s loss to Chicago harder than Sean McVay and because of it the Eagles’ defense is going to be in trouble. For some reason the Rams got away from giving the ball to Todd Gurley, which made absolutely no sense. Sure, the Bears are stingy against the run, but Gurley entered that game as the league’s leading rusher, yet he had season-lows of 11 carries and 28 yards. That’s not going to happen this week, especially against and Eagles defense that was worked by Ezekiel Elliott, Dak Prescott and the Cowboys last week. This is a good week to play Gurley on the live betting lines at BookMaker.eu and go with him to eclipse his rushing yard total and get back into the end zone after not hitting paydirt last week.

Another big question for the Rams offense is the play of Goff, who had an awful outing last week and has struggled since the bye. Over the last two games Goff has thrown five picks and totaled only 387 yards. Those games were on the road and we’ve seen a different Goff and a different Rams team playing at the Coliseum. The Rams haven’t played at home since that epic 54-51 win over Kansas City and they average around 38 points per game. Win a prop bet at BookMaker.eu by taking Goff over his passing yards total and the Rams over their point total.
