2008 NFL Regular
Season Win Totals
Now Posted
Always one of the
more popular
preseason NFL props
is now open at
Sportsbook.com. Even
though the regular
season is still
about 3 ½ months
away, Regular Season
Win Totals for the
2008 season have
been released.
Despite their
dramatic 17-14
victory over the
undefeated Patriots
in Super Bowl XLII,
the odds-makers at
Sportsbook.com have
handicapped the
Total number of wins
for the New York
Giants at 8.5 for
the upcoming season.
Of course, that
number isn’t a total
slap in the face to
the G-Men,
considering the Over
pays out at -140,
while the Under is a
profitable +110.
Playing in the
competitive NFC
East, wins could be
tough to come by
against their
divisional
opponents; however,
the good news is of
their 10 out of
division games, only
two of the teams
made the playoffs
last season.
Speaking of the
Patriots,
Sportsbook.com is
obviously expecting
them to come back to
earth as they are
gauged at having 12
wins in the 2008
season. Although
Super Bowl runner
ups usually struggle
the following year,
it is hard to
imagine the Patriots
doing so. Not only
do they have all of
the key players
returning from their
high powered
offense, but they
will only play three
teams that made the
postseason last
year.
Whereas the Patriots
have the highest
amount of predicted
regular season wins,
the Atlanta Falcons
have lowest at 4.5.
Obviously like most
quarterbacks
selected in the 1st
Round, Matt Ryan
isn’t expected to
make too much of a
difference yet. It
should be noted that
the UNDER does
payout at +130 so
the handicappers and
bettors alike agree
that Atlanta should
be able to get at
least five wins.
The team expected to
improve the most
from last season is
the Miami Dolphins
from their 1-15
season last year, as
their O/U is set at
5.5. Even more
surprising is the
fact that the Over
is favored (-125).
Then again, with
running back Ronnie
Brown returning to
the lineup, in
addition to a very
strong draft; the
Fins can’t be as bad
as last year.
Squeezing out five
additional wins
could be a lot to
expect though.
