NBA Finals Betting Odds

Sports911.com
- The 2007 NBA Finals Betting Odds were about to be
set. Early odds on Game One had the home team
San Antonio Spurs a
-7 1/2 favorite at
Bookmaker.com
(opening Sunday afternoon June 3, 2007).
For the first time,
The Cleveland Cavaliers are the Eastern Conference
champions -- and on their way to the NBA Finals.
Cleveland, a city that hasn't celebrated a world
championship since 1964, has the next closest thing.
And now the Cavs, who won just 17 games the year
before James arrived from just down the Interstate
in Akron, will meet the San Antonio Spurs in Game 1
of the finals on Thursday night.
Meanwhile, the NBA
Finals experienced San Antonio Spurs will be making
their fourth appearance in the big game in less than
ten years, having won all three prior appearances.
They have only missed the playoffs 4 times as an NBA
franchise.
Heading into the
Conference Playoffs, these were the 2007 NBA Finals
Betting Odds posted:
Cleveland Cavaliers
25-1
Detroit Pistons 9-5
San Antonio Spurs 5-11
Utah Jazz 35-1
Interestingly, the
Cavs enjoyed shorter odds to win the 2007 NBA Finals
at the start of the season where they were listed
with 10 to 1 odds. 2007 NBA Betting odds set
for the Spurs back in October were 11 to 2.
Payouts for every $100
bet early on for the Spurs would amount to $550; the
Cavs $1000, however, the Cavaliers will pay out
$2500 for every $100 bet to whomever had them at the
start of the Conference Finals. The reason
these odds were so generous is that the Detroit
Pistons were a very big favorite to beat the Cavs.
These odds may have even been longer at some online
gambling establishments following Games One and Two
and a 0-2 hole for Cleveland.
The Cavs
eventually settled in with odds of +1400 or 14
to 1 after evening the series.
